BOLLARDS – ENERGY ABSORBING (EAB)

Proven to save lives

WHY USE ENERGY ABSORBING BOLLARDS (EAB)?

Yungatha installs Energy Absorbing Bollards (EABs), which have been successfully proven through rigorous testing during the development stage.

Crash tested bollards with a proven impact rating can potentially reduce or prevent incidents in public spaces, such as the 2017 Melbourne car attack, without affecting pedestrian access and aesthetics.

  • Energy Absorbing Bollards (EAB’s) are the only crash tested bollard in Australia
  • Proven levels of crash protection through extensive testing for road-side restaurants, pedestrians and assets
  • Prevents serious injury or death to the occupants of the impacting vehicle

WHAT ADVANTAGE DO EAB’S HAVE OVER OTHER BOLLARDS?

Energy Absorbing Bollards (EAB’s) are the only crash tested bollard on the current Australian market.

EAB’s are energy absorbing bollards requiring no gates or fencing. When a bollard is impacted, the unique cartridge system takes in the energy, bringing the vehicle to a steady and controlled stop. This helps to protect both the pedestrians and the vehicle occupants.

Energy Absorbing Bollards aim to reduce the risk of injury and fatalities to the occupants of impacting vehicles due to its specially designed crash impact system that safely decelerates the vehicle whilst maintaining its crash rating.

TYPES OF ENERGY ABSORBING BOLLARDS

Indigenous Yungatha currently offer two types of Energy Absorbing Bollards (EAB) (formally named “OmniStop Bollard”):

  • EAB20 – 20Km/h crash tested bollard
  • EAB60 – 60Km/h crash tested bollard

EAB20

Perfect for slow moving traffic areas, the EAB20 is a 20km/h crash tested barrier can be used in:

  • Parking lots
  • Walkways
  • Asset protection

Compared to the EAB60, the EAB20 has a small in-ground profile making it perfect for installation into areas where a pre-existing service may exist at lower depths.

EAB60

The EAB60 was the first of the Energy Absorbing bollard range and was specially designed for use at roadside locations such as:

  • Restaurants
  • Roundabouts
  • Traffic lights
  • Bus stops

Energy Absorbing Bollards can also be found in many areas where pedestrians are close to live road traffic.

WHERE DO ENERGY ABSORBING BOLLARDS GET USED?

  • Outdoor Dining Areas such as Restaurants and Cafes
  • Stadiums
  • Shopping Centre and retail shop windows
  • Pedestrian Walkway’s (Shared Path) and Crossings
  • Bus Shelters
  • Schools, daycare and play Centre
  • Roundabouts, Traffic Lights and Intersections
  • Car Parks
  • Asset Protection such as Telecommunication, Fuel and Power Structures
